The XF4F prototype was first flown in 1939, with the USN placing their first order in August the same year, orders also emanating from Greece and France. When France crumbled under the Nazi blitzkreig, their order defaulted to Britain and the Wildcat became the first US-built aircraft to destroy a German aircraft in WWII. 31 pages in colour and b&w, including a landscape General Arrangement drawing.
